Christmas 2008

Lilly had a great Christmas this year!  She received lots of toys which has caused us to have to clear out some of the old ones, a chore that has been necessary for awhile now.  She even helped open her presents.  We had a great time!!  Pictures are being uploaded soon!!

So we had our first snow.  She got all dressed up in her snowsuit and plopped into the snow.  It took about 3 minutes before she decided she didn't like the cold.  

She has finally started cutting her first molars.  The bottom ones are in and the top ones are really working their way in.  She really likes brushing her teeth at night after her bath.  As for her bath, she LOVES the water!!  

She is still not walking, but she has become part monkey.  She loves to climb on EVERYTHING!!  

We are getting ready for christmas and will post more when I can!

Lilly is now one!!

Lilly celebrated her first birthday on December 5th.  She had her birthday party on the following Saturday.  She really liked her birthday cake and loved getting all her presents.  Thank you to everyone who made her birthday special!!

Pumpkins!!

Today we went to Allen's Pumpkins and got our pumpkins for Halloween.  Lilly helped to pick out the best pumpkins on the lot!  When we got home she helped to clean them out and then carve them.  She was covered in pumpkin slime by the time all was said and done.

So you had a bad day...

Yesterday she was cruising around our coffee table and her foot slipped out from under her. As she was falling she hit her mouth on the table. She SCREAMED!! And while she was screaming I saw that she had a bloody mouth. I checked all of her teeth and they all seem intact and none are loose, that I can see. About two minutes later she was fine. She stopped screaming and bleeding and was playing.

Shortly after that she was eating a cracker (from a bag that she spilled all over the floor and proceeded to crawl on) and she started to choke. I got the cracker out her mouth and cleaned up the floor. Somehow she found a piece of cracker and started to choke on that as well. She is fine.

Then she was pulling herself up on her Yaya's walker and her foot slipped out from under her and she bonked her head again.

Yesterday was not this kid's day!!

gDiapers

We hav decided to go green(er)!! We are starting to use gDiapers, or at least checking them out. They are a really cool. After Lilly uses them the liners are flushed and can be used as compost. If we choose to throw them away, that's okay too because they decompose in 50-150 days!! They are kind of like a cloth diaper. The covers are cool and cute!! I have never been so excited about changing diapers!!

Update on the Sick Binks

Lilly is still running a fever and has horrible congestion. But she seems to be perking up a little bit. We are skipping swimming tonight because of the ears, but hopefully should be up an running in a couple of days. She is having trouble sleeping at night because of ear pain and her nose. She is also having trouble sucking from a bottle, but lucky for us she is drinking from a cup. I'll keep everyone updated!

Sick Baby

Lilly and I are both sick!! We just found out that Lilly has an ear infection and a cold. Poor kid slept about 3 hours last night before her ear kept her up, which means that mommy got about 1 hour before the screaming began.

Swimming Lessons

Yesterday Lilly started swimming lessons. We are doing a mommy and me swim class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She was dunked underwater last night and did not seem to mind. I think I have a little fish on my hands. I will post pictures when I get them!!

Last night we let Lilly feed herself for the first time. She enjoyed spaghetti with sauce. I'll let the pictures and video tell the rest.

Words!!

Lilly is now saying "da-da" "mama" "Doggy (or ge)" "Fish (drop the f)" "books" and some random babbling.  She can also look at a picture of a dog and will say "ge" and she can point out the doggy in a book.  My kid is obsessed with doggies!!  She likes to clap and is starting to wave.  She is also starting to scoot around in the standing position while holding on to furniture.  I am not ready for this!!

I know this is almost 3 months away, but I didn't want anyone to miss out.  Lilly is turning one on December 5th.  We are going have a birthday party on December 6th.  I don't know what time yet, but it will most likely be in the afternoon.

9 month Update

Yeah!  We finally have a blog that we can share with everyone!!  So welcome to Lilly's update page.  I promise that I will do my best to keep this as up-to-date as possible.  

So, Lilly (Binks) turned 9 months old on September 5th.  We took her in for her 9 month checkup and she is offically 16 pounds 13 ounces.  She is 27.75 inches long.  She has 8 teeth!  She is a speed demon when it come to crawling and loves to chase the dogs all over the house.  

We just back from a week vacation.  We spent the week at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio in Phoenix.  (Sorry we didn't call anyone but we were escaping.) Lilly went swimming and had a blast!!  She even fell asleep in the pool.  After coming home we decided that it was time for someone to start sleeping in their own bed.  So after a heartbreaking decision we have reverted to the "cry it out" method.  I hate it.  But it seems to be working.  

I plan on posting some older blogs from my myspace page on here so everone can catch up if they want.

So Lilly has approached and passed the four month mark.  She somehow has learned to manipulate her father, but not me because I don't fall for childish cries for attention (yeah right!  If anything I am the one who taught her!)  She has figured out that if she does not feel we are paying enough attention to her, she can cry and we will look at her.  She then giggles and smiles, trying to play the cute card.  (Holy crap! It works!!)  But we are on to her antics!! So now she pretends to cough and thus gets our attention once more.    

She has received her first ear infection and is handling it like a champ.  She actually takes her medicine now that we have figured out how to mix it with milk and put it into a bottle.  Personally I think Chanel or some other fancy perfume company should bottle the smell of amoxicin and label it ode de la crap!  I also believe that she is cutting her first two teeth. 

 

Last night was the first night Binks slept in her own crib.  It was very traumatizing (for me) and I ended up having to bring her into our room around 6 am (thank God!! Ok fact of the matter is she is always awake by 6am)  She seems to have survived the night unscathed and does not seem to have any negative effects from the experience.  Depending on the situation tonight, we might just try it again.  Her father (who was up and checking on her ever hour) seems to feel it is necessary to have her sleep in her own bed, something about not wanting her to still be sleeping with us when she is 13.

 

As for the rest of the family…in case you didn't know, Peter got a promotion at work.  He is now one of two executive ass. mans (or is that men).  This means that he is a step down from store manager and in theory training to get his own store.  What it really means is that he works more hours and gets to deal with more shit.  But the pay raise was nice and regardless of what he says, I think he actually likes it. Another perk, he is in Phoenix once a month for training which means I get the bed all to myself for three days!! (not really a perk, no where to put my feet when they get cold.)

Okay, I have been meaning to do this for about a month, so I apologize for the late update. 

 

As most of you know, Peter and I had a baby girl on December 5^th.  My 40 plus day stay at the hospital ended when I was granted release by Warden (Dr.) Andersen on December 7^th, but Lillian was destined to stay in Intensive Care for 9 days.  She was born 5 weeks and 2 days early because her blood pressure in her umbilical cord started to show some distress.  I was taken to labor and delivery on 12/3 where they began to soften my cervix during which we were told that it would probably take 3-4 days to deliver because of how early it was.  (Sorry if this is too much info, I don't care about modesty anymore!) By 7 am on the 4^th, I was in early labor.  The awesome Gayle did 3 gels and after 6 hours of heavy contractions (Sorry they felt heavy to me!) Dr. Andersen broke my water and there was merconium (sp?) in the fluid.  They told me that they did not know if I was going to be able to hold Lilly before they took her down to NICU.  If she swallowed any of the fluid she could be put into respiratory distress.  We began to make bets as to what time Lilly would be born.  Well everyone was right, I didn't deliver on the day they induced…I delivered at 12:37 am on the 5^th.  My favorite L & D nurse Jo Ellen and my good friend Katie helped with my 15 minutes of pushing.  I owe both an apology for puking on.  I was able to hold Lilly before they took her down to NICU.

We were advised that she would probably be inhibited and have a feeding tube.  Bilirubin lights were going to be a must.    Lilly was on room air about 2 hours after she was born.  She moved into a "Big Girl" crib, as the world's greatest NICU nurse Lynette called it, within 4 days.  She did end up getting the feeding tube, but Lilly pulled it out of her nose within 24 hours of its placement, and it never had to be put in again.  She did go under the Billi lights, but they were able to make her a glow worm and give her the billi blanket which she tolerated much better.  After she gained weight, she was just shy of 6 pounds when we left the hospital, we were allowed to "sleep-in" at NICU and take her home on the 14^th.

As for our Christmas, well to be honest it was uneventful!  We didn't do anything other than open presents, which Lilly slept through.  Peter worked Christmas Day and so we just chilled around the house. 

Things are going well. Lilly is getting bigger, even though she is still a tiny 7 pounds 4.5 ounces.  She is actually starting to fit into newborn clothes.  And no she doesn't sleep!!  But that is okay.

I want to thank everyone who came and saw me at the hospital.  It meant a lot to me because it was getting very lonely up there!!  Thanks for all the well wishes and I hope everyone has a great new year!!
